Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
